Weekly Update:
Today was our last Monday together!! It is crazy but true! And we are still hard at work up in Rm. 408.
The end of the year party will be immediately after assembly on Friday, May 24th. Students will be able to wear pajamas, bring a flash light, bring a board game, a sheet to build a tent, AND we will be having a picnic in the classroom :)! It's going to be a fun day!!
The students put their finishing touches on their butterfly keynote presentations and will soon upload them to Seesaw for you to see. Stay tuned! We will be wrapping up plants with a fun EDIBLE activity as well. We have stepped away from science for the most part and are taking this last week to focus on personal financial literacy in social studies. The students are learning about goods and services, saving and spending, along with costs and benefits. We even discussed taxes and income this morning!
In math we are reviewing some learned skills as well as working on understanding the idea of multiplication and division. 2nd graders are not required to memorize facts, but rather understand how to represent 3 groups of 4 using arrays and therefore understand that 3 X 4 = 12. We also learn it as repeated addition and subtraction.
As the year winds down and we are preparing for summer, please continue to send in a backpack! Also please let me know if you know your child will not be here the last few days of school so I can get any projects and activities ready for them before they leave. They will need their backpack up to the very last day so that they can bring home supplies, materials and finished projects.
Lastly, thank you all for making me feel so appreciated and loved! The gifts and treats for teacher appreciation were so thoughtful, and I really appreciate the lunches too! I am looking forward to some R&R at the spa! The year has flown by and I have really enjoyed our time together! Thank you for another great year at BPE!

Please feel free to join us for our End of Year celebration!
Please send headphones to school with your student ASAP. We will start to use our iPads to listen to reading as well as learn with apps. and videos, and it would be helpful to be able to hear. Earbuds or headphones are fine; whatever works for your student. Thanks!
